Fancy seeing you here. Welcome to Sincerely, from the footnotes, a blog for The Impostors Theatre Company. You are now in ~unscripted~ territory (blech.) Read on to learn more about our journey and mission, to read charming short essays inspired by our company, or to analyze more tantalizing studio shots of me and others.
…and I’m both thrilled and flattered that you’ve made it this far. Most freethinking people see the word “blog” and turn straight the hell around. “But I’m not like most blogs,” this blog says. “Get ready for your life to change.” Not really, but you should find some entertainment, at the very least. You may ask yourself, who is Kayla Belec? What does she have to offer me? Well, I’ll tell you: I am, in fact, a very boring person, but I like to infuse boring things with excitement. I’ve become pretty good at it, in fact—this is something I can say confidently (and a bit sheepishly?) I will never tell you a boring story, even if the nature of the story is duller than Matt Damon. Naturally, this carries over into my writing. I enjoy writing about everyday, average moments of human interaction and transforming them into something meaningful. That’s why The Impostors Theatre Company—particularly our mission to find the extraordinary in the ordinary—fills me with so much hullabaloo. And that’s why I’ll be keeping this handy blog detailing our many adventures and pitfalls, as dull as they may seem off the page.
Anyway, since you’re already here and we’ll all have carpal tunnel someday, why not give your knuckles a good crack (or don’t, if you find that as repulsive as I do; just let them become more and more like talons) and scroll onward for more…
